WOMEN’S HAVURAH OF CONGREGATION OHR TZAFON
FUN.... FRIENDSHIP.... CARING....
Havurah means "fellowship," "friend," "comrade." It refers to groups of American Jews,
which meet informally for prayer sessions, meals, and classes or discussions on Judaism.
Our Women's Havurah meets the 4th Tuesday of the month. We schmooze, we eat,
we laugh, and learn from one another. We also plan field trips and other activites.
For more information, call 466-0329.
WE WELCOME YOUR PARTICIPATION
Our Havurah is made up of career women, retired women, mothers, grandmothers, single
parents, and seniors, who are members of the Jewish community. These women belong
for many reasons, but all have a commitment to Judaism. Havurah meets monthly, does
not charge dues, or require membership in Congregation Ohr Tzafon.
PURPOSE:
- TO STRENGTHEN THE JEWISH INTERESTS AND ACTIVITIES OF THE
MEMBERS OF THE CONGREGATION
- TO SUPPORT THE AIMS OF THE CONGREGATION
- TO PROMOTE A MORE THOROUGH KNOWLEDGE AND APPRECIATION OF
JEWISH LIFE
- TO STIMULATE SOCIAL AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES AMONGST ITS
MEMBERS, IN THE SYNAGOGUE, AND IN THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE
We encourage you to become as involved as you can. There are many ways in which you
can lend your time, skills, and caring to this organization. Havurah supports many facets
of congregational life, such as:
- Offers assistance in emergencies or times of bereavement to our Temple families
- Organizes social & educational programs for the congregation, such as field trips and parties
- Assists life cycle events
- Organizes a community Passover Seder each year
- Participates in acts of charity, including feeding the hungry
