Lifecycles

Brit Milah and Simchat Bat

Our tradition gives us beautiful ceremonies for welcoming our newborn children into our lives and communities. Rabbi Janice can put you in touch with a Mohel (ritual circumciser), and is available to officiate at home or in your doctor's office.  Rabbi Janice can help you think through and design a  meaningful ceremony, to take place either at home or at the synagogue to welcome your baby daughter.

Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Bar/Bat Mitzvah students are moving from childhood to adulthood and learning what it means to be a responsible member of the Jewish community.

Wedding

Rabbi Janice loves to officiate at weddings! She also offers counseling, showing how Jewish wisdom can prepare the couple for a life dedicated to love and companionship.  Rabbi Janice joyously welcomes all couples under the chuppah.

Marriage Reconsecration

We join together to celebrate marriage.  Every year we hold a special ceremony to honor anniversaries in multiples of 5 years.  This year we had couples married from 25 to 55 years!  We have special blessings under the chuppah, reaffirming words of commitment and a special cake and champagne oneg Shabbat.

Funeral

Our tradition offers several powerful end of life rituals and Congregation Ohr Tzafon is here to assist you in these rituals.  Rabbi Janice is available to perform the funeral ceremony, and help you understand and implement other meaningful Jewish mourning practices. She is the rabbinic director of the Central Coast Chevra Kadisha - Jewish burial society.
