Because I have a vision of Israel that aspires to uphold Jewish and democratic values, I must speak out against annexation. I share this view with rabbis from across the denominations who are lovers of Zion and champions of the people and State of Israel. I have never stopped believing in the right of the Jewish people to self-determination in the sovereign state of Israel, the land of our origins. But unilateral action that extends Israeli sovereignty or annexes additional lands in the West Bank without either providing for citizenship of the Palestinian residents or including a framework of direct negotiations with the Palestinian Authority will not only harm the Palestinian people, it will undermine Israel’s moral position. A unilateral decision makes any peaceful solution more difficult and further weakens bipartisan support for Israel from our congress and from American Jews. I look forward to continuing this discussion in the coming weeks and learning how we can be Israel's advocates and supporters while still raising our voices when needed. Hineni: Being An Ally How to Apologize When You are “Called Out/Called In”
When we do the sometimes difficult work of getting to know people who are different from us, we can make mistakes. This doesn’t mean we’re bad; it means we all have a lot to learn. When we do make mistakes or discover how we’ve been playing into, hurting or marginalizing others, it is useful to know how to acknowledge it and take responsibility for the impact we have had.

COVID Response Update
SLO County data currently reflects a trend of increase in COVID 19 cases. This is not unexpected following reopening of many business sectors. However, some of the new cases have been attributed to gatherings/parties and congregant settings. The Board of Trustees, in consultation with the COT Health and Safety Committee, has decided that COT will stay the course with virtual programming through the summer months of June, July and August. We do plan to have an in-person havdalah service, outdoors on the COT campus sometime during the summer (date to be determined). Plans are also unfolding with Rabbi Robin Foonberg, in concert with the Ritual Committee, for High Holy Day services and programming.

Support COT and Shop with Scrip
If you've been wondering about our ongoing fundraiser, Shop with Scrip, it is an easy way to raise money for COT while you shop for your regular purchases. A family of four can raise as much as $1,080 in a year just by paying for their everyday purchases with scrip. If we take that number and multiply it by all of the families at COT, we could easily raise tens of thousands of dollars each year.
Please continue to place your Scrip Orders: Print order form and mail to COT- 2605 Traffic Way, Atascadero, 93422 or email your order to Jackie Ramsdell at treasurer@ohrtzafon.net Our orders are placed on the second and fourth Monday of each month. Scrip will be available the following weekend at COT or for delivery to your home (no extra charge).
